The book I’m reading on prayer directed me to this passage today. It’s a Psalm of David, written after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered her husband.

Isn’t it an amazing testimony of how God’s grace is so much deeper and wider than we imagine? We feel the guilt of our sin and try to cover it up, press it down and otherwise pretend it isn’t there, but it doesn’t go away.

Then when we eventually give in and cones it to God, we find his grace and forgiveness more strongly and more freely flowing than we could imagine.

We think it will be worse to confess our sins to God, but instead it is the release from guilt that we have been seeking.

What an amazing, loving God!
